Liar’s Dice
Five dice under a cup, a table full of outlaws and one question: how many sixes are on the whole table? Raise the bid, or call “Liar!” and lift every cup.
- Play computer outlaws
- Or friends on one phone
- Or a phone each
- Nothing is sent anywhere
How to play
The old game of bluff and odds, for two to six players. Play against computer outlaws, pass one phone between friends, or sit everyone down with their own phone.
- Everyone has five dice under a cup and sees only their own.
- Take turns claiming how many of a face there are on the whole table, counting everyone’s dice: “four fives”.
- Each claim must go up: more dice, or the same number on a higher face.
- Instead of raising you can call “Liar!”. Cups come up and the dice are counted. If there are at least as many as claimed, you lose a die; otherwise the bidder does.
- With “ones are wild” on, every one counts as any face, and nobody may bid on ones.
- With “spot on” allowed, you can claim the count is exactly right. If it is, everyone else loses a die. If not, you do.
- Whoever loses a die opens the next round. The last player holding dice takes the table.
The computer outlaws see only their own dice and reckon the odds; now and then they bluff. Nothing is sent anywhere.
When several of you share one phone, each player’s dice show only after they tap “show my dice”. Put the cup down before handing the phone over.
